1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Inspire IIT-JEE & NEET Foundation (A Unit of MR Groups) ("Inspire", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information through the Inspire Android mobile application (the "App"), used by School Admins, Teachers, and Students of partner schools.

This Policy applies to the mobile App. If your school also uses the Inspire web platform, a corresponding web privacy policy governs that separately, referenced here where relevant.

By using the App, you (or, for a Student under 18, your school acting on behalf of you and your parent/guardian) agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.

2. Who This Policy Covers, and How Accounts Are Created

Unlike many consumer apps, individuals do not sign themselves up for Inspire. Every account — School Admin, Teacher, and Student — is created and managed by the partner School's Admin, who is provided by the school with the necessary information to set up each account (name, email, class/section/program assignment). This matters for how consent works:

  • School Admin and Teacher accounts: created by the school as part of its use of the platform for staff.
  • Student accounts: created by the School Admin on behalf of the student. For Students who are minors, the School is responsible for obtaining any parental/guardian consent required under applicable law (including the DPDP Act's children's-data provisions) before providing that student's information to us, as part of its own enrolment and data-processing arrangements with parents/guardians.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Account & Profile Information

  • Full name, email address, role (Admin/Teacher/Student).
  • School, class, section, and program (IIT Foundation or Regular Academics) for Students; assigned classes and subjects for Teachers.
  • Profile photo, if the user chooses to upload one.
  • Login credentials and session identifiers (access and refresh tokens) needed to keep you securely signed in.

3.2 Learning & Activity Data

  • Video-watching activity: which videos are opened, how much is watched, and playback position, used to let you resume where you left off and to show teachers engagement statistics.
  • Test and assessment data (IIT Foundation program only): scores, correct/incorrect/unanswered counts, time taken, and — where available — answer selections and solution-review activity.
  • Online class activity: which scheduled classes you view and tap to join, used to generate attendance-style reporting for teachers (this reflects button taps, not independently verified attendance).
  • Performance analytics derived from the above: subject/chapter accuracy, rank and percentile within your own school, and similar aggregated academic performance indicators.

3.3 AI Feature Data

  • Questions you submit to the AI Doubt Support (Students) or Knowledge-Base Ask (Teachers) features, together with the AI-generated answers and the source document/page reference used to produce them.
  • Documents that Teachers or School Admins upload to power these AI features (e.g. textbook chapters, reference PDFs).

3.4 Communications

  • Announcements sent to you by your school/teacher, and whether you have read them.
  • Push notification delivery data (device token, platform) needed to deliver notifications to your device.

3.5 Device & Technical Information

  • Device type and operating system version, app version, and general diagnostic/crash information used to keep the App working correctly.
  • IP address and similar network information collected automatically when the App communicates with our servers.

4. How We Use Information

  • To operate the core features of the App: dashboards, video playback and resume, online class scheduling and joining, testing and results, performance analytics, and announcements.
  • To let Students and Teachers use the AI Doubt Support and Knowledge-Base Ask features.
  • To send push notifications about content, classes, tests, and announcements relevant to you.
  • To let School Admins and Teachers manage accounts, monitor academic progress, and generate school-, class-, and student-level reports, consistent with their role.
  • To maintain the security of accounts and the integrity of assessments (for example, detecting irregular activity during a test).
  • To diagnose problems, improve the App, and understand how features are used in aggregate.

We do not use Student data to serve behavioural or targeted advertising, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.

5. Children's Privacy

  • We rely on the partner School to obtain appropriate parental/guardian consent before a Student account is created and Student information is provided to us, as described in Section 2.
  • We do not knowingly use a Student's personal data for behavioural monitoring, tracking, or targeted advertising.
  • Student accounts are created and managed by the School; a parent/guardian who wishes to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's information should contact the School Admin in the first instance, or use the in-app "Request Account Deletion" option described in Section 9, which is routed to the School Admin.
  • We retain Student data only for as long as needed to provide the service and to support the School's legitimate academic record-keeping, as described in Section 8.

6. How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to provide the service:

  • With your School (School Admin and relevant Teachers), since the App is a school-managed educational tool — this is the core purpose of the service.
  • With service providers who help us run the App, such as cloud hosting, push-notification delivery (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging), and, for the AI features, the AI/LLM provider referenced in Section 3.3 — each bound by contract to use the data only to provide their service to us.
  • With external meeting platforms (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams) only to the extent needed to let you join a class your teacher has scheduled there; your use of those platforms is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
  • If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Inspire, our users, or others.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of personal information under an equivalent policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share Student data with advertisers.

7. Data Security

  • Data in transit between the App and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS).
  • Access to student and teacher data is restricted by role — for example, a Teacher can generally only see students in their own assigned classes, and a Regular Academics student cannot access IIT Foundation-only features or data.
  • Authentication uses short-lived access tokens with a separate refresh mechanism, stored securely on-device.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We work to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain account and academic data for as long as the account is active with a partner school, and for a reasonable period after an account is suspended, to preserve the integrity of academic records, historical performance reporting, and school-level analytics.

Where an account or a specific piece of data is deleted at the request of a user or the School (see Section 9), we will remove or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.

9. Your Choices & Rights

  • Access & correction: you can view your profile information in the App (Profile screen) and request corrections through your School Admin.
  • Request account deletion: you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data from the Profile screen, which routes your request to your School Admin for processing; we will act on confirmed requests within a reasonable period, subject to the retention needs described in Section 8.
  • Notifications: you can manage notification permissions through your device's system settings.
  • Parents/guardians of Student users should direct requests regarding their child's data to the School in the first instance.
Read the account deletion instructions
